Does it work with my current phone number?
Yes. You keep your existing number. You simply set up call forwarding to our system — a one-time 2-minute setup from your phone carrier's settings. No new hardware, no new SIM card.
What if the AI makes a mistake on an order?
The AI reads back every order to the customer before confirming. Customers can correct any item before hanging up. You'll also see every order on your dashboard before preparing it, giving you a second chance to catch anything unusual.
How does the kitchen dashboard work?
Orders appear on a web-based tablet dashboard in real time. Any device with a browser works — iPad, Android tablet, or even a laptop. No app to install. Orders show the full items, customer name, callback number, and pickup or delivery details.
What languages does it support?
Currently English, Spanish, and Arabic. The AI detects the caller's language and responds accordingly. Additional languages available on request.
Can it answer more than one call at the same time?
Yes — unlike a single staff member, OrderTaker can answer unlimited calls simultaneously. If five customers call during your Friday dinner rush, all five get answered instantly and have their orders taken in parallel. No busy signals, ever.
What happens during business hours vs. after hours?
You set your hours during onboarding. During open hours, the AI takes live orders for immediate prep. After closing, OrderTaker stays on — it tells callers you're currently closed, shares your hours, answers menu and location questions, and can take a pre-order for your next opening time. Pre-orders land on your dashboard marked "Scheduled" so your team sees them first thing when you open.
I have more than one restaurant. How does pricing work?
Pricing per location starts at $199/month (Starter) up to $799/month (Enterprise) — choose any plan for each location. Every additional location beyond your first gets 15% off on any plan. For example, a second Pro location is $254.15/month, a second Business location is $424.15/month. All locations are managed from one account with one bill.
Can I pause the agent when we're closed so we don't waste minutes?
Yes — and it happens automatically. You set your open hours during onboarding (e.g. Mon–Fri 11am–10pm, Sat–Sun 12pm–11pm). The agent answers calls during those hours and auto-pauses outside them. Callers after hours hear a custom closed message with your hours and website. You can override it anytime — flip it open or closed manually from your dashboard in seconds.
What about wrong numbers and robocalls — do those burn my minutes?
Barely. We use robocall screening spam detection at the carrier level (via Telnyx) which flags and blocks most robocalls before they ever reach the agent. For wrong numbers that do connect, the agent recognizes within the first 10–15 seconds that it's a wrong number, says "Sorry about that, have a great day!" and ends the call — using less than 0.25 minutes. Compare that to a staff member who'd spend a minute or two on the same call.
Does OrderTaker integrate with my POS system (Toast, Square, Clover)?
OrderTaker works with any restaurant out of the box — no POS integration is required. Orders appear on a dedicated tablet dashboard, formatted for your kitchen, so staff can read and prep immediately. Direct POS integrations (starting with Toast and Square) are in development and will roll out to all customers at no extra charge as they become available.
Does the AI try to upsell customers?
Yes — the AI can suggest relevant add-ons — drinks, appetizers, sides, or desserts — based on what's ordered, using prompts you approve during setup. This is optional and fully customizable to match your menu and tone.
What if a customer has a complaint or unusual request?
OrderTaker is built for the routine volume — orders, reservations, hours, and menu questions. If a caller has a complaint, a complex custom request, or asks for a manager, the AI politely takes their name and number and flags it for your team to call back, rather than guessing. You can also set up live transfer to a manager's line during business hours.
Is there a contract or setup fee?
No contract, no setup fee. Month-to-month. Cancel anytime. Onboarding and training is included in your first month.
